Your satisfaction is guaranteed by the artist Procedures Contact me by email through the link below to discuss your portrait needs. The process involves first discussing the general approach to the painting - degree of formality, setting, timetable and an appropriate size. Posthumous portraits can be done, and I would review reference photos at this stage to determine if they are usable. At a separate first sitting, either at your location or my studio, a camera is used to record the subject in a variety of poses and lighting situations. I get to know the subject, observing mannerisms, visual features, coloring and personality traits. Sketches also may be done at this time. This session takes about 2 hours. From the resulting photos, I develop composition options that I share with you and from which we agree on a final approach to the portrait. Using our agreed-upon approach and the reference material, I complete as much of the portrait as possible in my studio, sometimes taking it to the finished stage without additional sittings, especially with children or animals. In some cases an additional sitting is necessary for me to paint from life. Such sessions last about 2 hours, during which the subject poses for 20-minute intervals with 5-minute breaks. The portrait is typically ready for delivery about 3 months after the initial photo sitting. |
